Content Guidelines for Departments

Texas A&M University College of Engineering departments should maintain timely, relevant  content on digital signage screens so that messaging remains engaging and does not become stale.

We recommend having a selection of evergreen graphics to fill space when timely content is not available.

Screens running Four Winds Interactive will use standard templates generated by Engineering Communications. We will work with the department for the best solution for the department’s needs.

The department communicator (or designated party) is responsible for generating/procuring content, such as copy, images, URLs and social handles. Content should be provided to the Digital Signage Team in Engineering Communications to design the digital signage graphics.

Departments agree to run a small portion of college/university general interest content as space allows. Department-specific content will take priority.

Types of Content

Content to be displayed, in order of priority, is:

  1. Emergency information – initiated by Code Maroon.
  2. Department information such as meetings, activities, events and announcements.
  3. Department-specific student organization information.
  4. College, campuswide and general interest information.
  5. Directory information (minimal and by special arrangement only).

Guidelines for Types of Content

Department-Specific Content

  • Department-specific content is curated by a department (by a department communicator or another designated person).
  • Final review and approval is provided by the Engineering Communications Digital Signage Team to ensure brand compliance.
  • Content is scheduled and deployed in coordination with a department by the Engineering Communications Digital Signage Team.

Student Content

  • Student content is made by students for students.
  • Student content is not regulated by university or college brand standards.
  • Content can be returned for revision for not meeting image requirements, such as the wrong dimensions, pixelation, or one of the “unacceptable types of content” as stated in the engineering digital signage guidelines.

Image Requirements for Standard Department Screens

Image requirements for standard department screens are:

  • Follow the digital signage best practices.
  • Images must be a PNG, JPG or MP4.
  • Ads must be 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (horizontal 16:9), 72 PPI.
